Hello all and Welcome to our latest newsletter…

? Spring is in the air, and the Easter holidays are coming up, giving us all a little time off to reflect on Q1 and everything that’s happened, so far…and that’s A LOT!

It’s been an intense and rewarding start to the year for us, with no plans for slowing down. As you should know by now – we are all about Action, Action, Action!

We have loads more startup and scaleup support, great eventspartnerships and action-based initiatives planned for Q2, so let’s get straight in to the updates…

“WOMEN IN TECH” COMMUNITY. BIG NEWS… 

As most of you know, we’re proud to boast Northern Europe’s largest women-in-tech community, helping high-potential female founders and leaders in tech launch, grow and scale digital/tech businesses. In Denmark, we’re running the only existing international mentoring programme for high-potential female founders and leaders in tech in Europe, with the support of #Rockstar mentors from serial entrepreneurs to investors, lawyers, business leaders, comms experts and more from across the Nordics, London, Paris, New York, Silicon Valley, Toronto and beyond, soon to be expanded to the rest of the Nordics……on 29/4, we’re presenting the Programme to Nordic Innovation’s Diversity Task Force with that in mind. So watch this space…

We’re always looking for more #Rockstar mentors. We also offer “buddying” opportunities for female founders from around the world OR if you’re a female founder in Denmark and would like to get involved, your can learn more/ apply for last remaining places to join Cohort 3 (Applications close April 14th), here ??

  Special thanks to former Danish TV star – now startup founder, Morten Resen, for his great talk on the “Do’s and Don’ts” of early stage startup life. It was a really inspiring and honest session, that showed all sides to his journey.

 

 


OUR STARTUP ECOSYSTEM AT WORK… AND NEW PARTNERSHIPS…TO BENEFIT YOU!

     Our COO for Sweden, Barry O’Brien, and CEO Jeanette Carlsson, delivered a highly rated event for The Canadian Trade Commission at the Embassy of Canada to Sweden, on March 17th connecting Swedish female founders in tech, business partners and investors and their Canadian peers, to stimulate new bilateral business partnerships. It was a particularly well attended event with over 70 registrants and participants. Special thanks go to our partners and members who moderated, pitched and advised, including; Dr Franziska Broell, Founder & CEO, MotryxAndrew Heneghan, European Sales Lead at Andgo SystemsAnette Nordvall, Founding of MP Cross Nordic Capital & CP Keiretsu Forum NordicsAnette Tånneryd, Investor – Chairwoman & Founder, Helena Rönqvist; Partner, Magnusson; and Helen Petrashchuk, CEO – 4ireLabs.

Norway
 Our Norwegian Board Member, Susanne Hannestad, helped to kick-off the 2021 spring class, of the Mastercard Lighthouse programme – Finitiv, where she will advise the 15 FinTech startups.

 

 


Finland 
 As we grow in Finland, let us introduce two new collaboration partners from there…

  Helsinki Think Company is the entrepreneurship society of the University of Helsinki. A community, a co-working space and an event hub focused on taking academics to action providing all the right tools for making an impact: a community of like-minded individuals, free co-working spaces, mentoring, workshops, boot camps, accelerator programs and more

 

 

 

  The Shortcut is the largest talent accelerator in the Nordics – equipping talent with the skills and networks they need to drive growth and innovation, and to kickstart their entry into the Finnish startup world.

Estonia 

  We are pleased to (re-)welcome Funderbeam, our many times partner and global lending and trading platform, represented by Merete Holmberg,  to our amazing group of Mentors on our Women in Tech Cohort 2 programme, which kicks off on April 6th.

We have enjoyed many great partnership examples with Funderbeam and cooking some more starting with this… of course with Funderbeam founder Kaidi Ruusalepp being an amazing female founder in tech herself.

Magnusson eyes serious complications for foreign investment in Danish tech companies

With its proposal for a new system to screen and approve foreign investments, the Danish government now adds a significant level of complexity for foreign investors looking to fund Danish start-ups and scale-ups. Within a range of sectors defined as “critical”, for instance AI, robotics as well as storage and processing of sensitive data – foreign investments above 10% now need to be approved. EVENTS 
 On April 14th at 12.00 CET, TNA Academy and Magnusson Law present: “How will foreign investments in the Danish tech-sector be impacted by new Danish rules for investment screening” with Magnusson Corporate M&A Partner – Nikolaj Juhl Hansen.

The talk will cover the new Danish rules on screening and approval of foreign investments that are expected to enter into force on 1 July 2021 with a particular focus on how this will impact foreign investments in the Danish sector (within industries such as AI, robotics, data processing, defence and space, data centers, telecom etc.)

GLOBAL TECH ADVOCATES (GTA) NEWS

 On April 20th, Tech London Advocates are hosting the “London Tech’s Manifesto” event with the candidates running for Mayor of London:
A virtual event, laying out 12 policy recommendations for the next Mayor of London. 

 

The “London Tech’s Manifesto” is a virtual event hosted by Tech London Advocates, techUK, London First, Centre for London and Here East and will look at the future of the tech sector in London over the next few years.

Alongside the event, they will publish The London Tech Manifesto which will lay out 12 policy recommendations for the next Mayor of London to support the growth of tech companies in the capital, and ensure London is embracing technology innovation.

Each mayoral candidate will be provided with the manifesto in advance of the event and will be asked a series of questions relating to the policy recommendations.
