OUR VERY OWN: #SmarterCitiesNOW, 11-12 October, Copenhagen

Ever thought, wish there was a truly interactive smart city forum (rather than traditional conference), where you can meet people working on the same issues/areas as you, to knowledge share, discuss your challenges, smart solutions, what works/doesn’t, learn from each other, find customers and partners – a forum, where the coffee break, lunch and networking discussions continue in the main sessions because talking to each other is THE WHOLE POINT OF THE EVENT ? If so, you share that with most other colleagues in the smart city space. So, we’ve created #SmarterCitiesNOW: A Sustainable Urban Development Collaboration Forum – an ambitious, ongoing, Nordic smart city/sustainable urban development collaboration initiative, led by Copenhagen, working with the UK, led by London, chaired by our Smart City/IOT Working Group, led by Michael Ferm, Global Head of Public Lighting, Zumtobel Group and the #SmarterCitiesNOW Steering Group.

UPC and Unitary Patents: Practical Tips for Technology Transfer, 5 October, London The patent system in Europe is set to undergo its biggest change in decades with the introduction of a new Unified Patent Court (UPC) and the availability of a new pan-European “Unitary Patent” (UP).  With the UK having recently taken steps towards ratifying the Unified Patent Court agreement, we could see changes starting to come into effect before the year is out.  Patent owners and applicants should be considering both what action to take with their existing portfolio and whether they want to obtain unitary patents in the future.

Join us for a late-afternoon session where we address this topic, providing some practical advice on managing these up-coming changes in the technology transfer arena, and taking a look at how the implementation of the UPC and the Unitary Patent might affect your day-to-day decision making. Click here to register

Join BLOXHUB in Copenhagen in two interesting tech debates in the beginning of september:
10101 Copenhagen – the digital city: New technology is changing our cities radically. Smart cities, big data and driverless cars will become part of our every-day-life in future Copenhagen. It may be difficult to predict what new technology will lead to, but one thing is sure: it is already changing the city that we know. How smart is the smart city, and does it bring us closer together or further apart?
Ane Cortzen will be your host, when we throughout the evening present a number of ideas on what the future digital capital will look like: From a philosophical view on mankind and technology to the digital future. At the same time, the food performer Augusta Sørensen will make sure, that you get a taste of future Copenhagen. More info and sign up: http://bloxhub.org/event/10101-copenhagen-digital-city/

Future of urban mobility and meetup at techfestival: Smart phones entered our lives about 10 years ago. Today, it’s hard to imagine exploring a new city without asking your favorite mobility aggregation App where to go, and increasing number of mobility services can be purchased on that same phone. In the meanwhile, commuters continue to either feel stuck in their cars hitting daily traffic queues, or they take train plus a bus or a bike to get to work. Either way, there is room to improve our daily commute experiences.

  • What would be a dream scenario for urban mobility in the next 10-20 years?
  • What are the key challenges to get there?
  • What is the role of government in terms of both regulation and how it spends its money?
